OK, OK, so maybe we are in drought right now. No sooner had I sent out the last round of results, claiming wet trails and deep mud, did the arid conditions come to stay. Dry, dusty trails in warm weather have greeted us through most of the last couple months worth of racing.

Bruce really tackled the lions share of the racing this Spring. He did both the mid-week Prairie City events, as well as most of the Central Coast CX MTB events, earning a difficult top 5 overall in each of those series.

My whole single speed experiment was more than less, a success. But success, like many things, can have it's own drawbacks as well. I was able to put back-to-back wins together in the middle of the CCCX series, but became overconfident in my gear selection at the final two races. A man needs to know his limits. Those limits carry a big stick. The final race came down to a do-or-die scenario for me to win the series. If I won the final, I would win the overall title. What happened next can only be described as nothing short of a catastrophic meltdown. Well, second overall is still good for an experiment, no?...

Pat held on for 5th overall in the CCCX MTB series, and he and I did our share to secure Family Cycling Center's defense of the 24 hrs. of Adrenaline title we earned last year, at the infamous Laguna Seca Raceway in Monterey. The team rode the event in dominant fashion, securing the lead in the first of 26 laps, and never relinquished it throughout the event. We finished the event with about a lap and a half over our next corporate division competitors.
